Star Ruby Ring

A stunning fine gold ring set with a 'star' ruby.

A star can be seen in gemstones when they are cut en cabochon and is particularly seen in rubies or sapphires.   This phenomenon is called 'asterism.'  Star sapphires and rubies get their asterism from the titanium dioxide impurities (rutile) present in them. The Star-effect or "asterism" is caused by the dense inclusions of tiny fibres of rutile (also known as "silk")

Materials: the ring is made of 18K gold and is set with a star ruby.

Details: the ring is a size M and can be sized as requested.  There is no additional charge for the sizing.  The ruby is cut en cabochon and is approximately 6 x 8 mm.  The setting has a textured, matt finish.
