General Questions

Is your jewellery handcrafted?

Our jewellery is specifically hand crafted and indeed the main reason that we choose to work in India is because of its grand tradition of jewellery making and intricate hand worked design.

Many of our pieces are one of a kind, using organic or asymmetric gemstones that could only be set with bespoke, hand made settings.

Likewise the abundance of bead work that you see on this site also.  These are not processes that can be automated or designs that can be machine made.

Who designs your jewellery?

Our jewellery is designed by our founder Katie and she works in collaboration with a number of workshops in Jaipur.

Traditional elements of Indian jewellery making are incorporated in our designs and many of the pieces come into being simply by serendipity and the gemstones that are found on a particular trip.

Is your jewellery ethically produced?

Katie has worked in Jaipur for 20 years and knows all her workforce personally and particularly choses to work with small workshops and family businesses where trading practices are transparent and easy to monitor.

The larger enterprises she may work with are all bound by strict trading rules and she visits their factories in person.

Are the materials used in your jewellery ethically sourced?

Our suppliers in India have to buy gold and silver from government approved refineries and they also strive to use recycled metals were possible.

Diamonds are sourced from companies who are part of the Kimberley process.  The Kimberley Process (KP) is a multilateral trade regime established in 2003 with the goal of preventing the flow of conflict diamonds. The core of this regime is the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) under which States implement safeguards on shipments of rough diamonds and certify them as “conflict free".

Gemstones are mined all over the world and the supply chains are complex and it would be impossible to scrutinise each step from source, as much as we would like to. Most of the worlds coloured gemstones are bought to Jaipur for cutting and polishing.   Suffice to say, we buy our gemstones from trusted sources and people that we have worked alongside for decades.

How long-lasting is the gold plating you use?

The plating will last longer if it is treated correctly and our care instructions are followed. All purchases come with a care card telling you how to look after your jewellery.

We offer a re-gold plating services on all of our pieces too, pricing will depend on a visual inspection of your piece, please get in touch with us to find out more.
