Description
This unique ring is set with vibrant blue turquoise from Iran and is handcarved with a floral design. The word turquoise dates back to the 17th Century, when trading routes brought turquoise from Persia through the Middle East towards Europe. The traders passed through Turkey, known as 'Turquie' in French, and the material was named 'Turquies' by locals.
Iran has been an important source of turquoise for at least 2000 years. You may have noticed its use in Iranian architecture, where the blue turquoise was used to cover the domes of palaces and mosques because its intense blue colour was also a symbol of heaven on earth.
Materials: the ring is made of gold plated sterling silver and is set with carved turquoise.
Details: the ring is size Q and the gemstone is approximately 22 x 26 mm.
All of our rings can be resized and please take a look at our blog post for more information on UK Ring Sizes.
