Every piece in our new Hyderabad edit includes pearls, which explains our choice of collection name. Hyderabad has been known as the City of Pearls for centuries, a place where gem traders and master jewellers turned raw pearls into some of the finest jewellery in the world. It felt like the only possible name for this collection!
Each piece in this collection is made from a central re-cycled gemstone. Rather than sourcing new, uniform stones for a perfectly replicable series of pieces, Katie went looking through years of leftover samples and odds and ends and, breaking these pieces up, found herself with a collection of beautiful gemstones ready to be re-purposed.
Here she found sapphires, chalcedony, lapis, chrysoprase, coral, kunzite, and a stunning carved aquamarine. Special stones expertly sourced, turned into a collection of colourful, one-off pieces.
The result is thirteen rings, necklaces and pendants, each set in gold, each piece surrounded by iridescent pearls, and all of them are unique. Where a typical collection starts with a plan and stones are sourced to fit it, Hyderabad worked the other way round. It was the stones that came first, each and every one lovingly rescued and reinvented.
